Everett Williams, Jr


Everett Williams, Jr. is a music educator, pianist, organist and composer who hails from Yakima, Washington. He is a product of the California public school system and a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (Ohio) where he received both the bachelor and master of music degrees.

Mr. Williams teaching career spans more than thirty years and presently he is a choral music teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland as well as the Director of Music and Worship Arts at the Asbury United Methodist Church of Washington DC.

Everett has been a choral clinician for school and church choirs in the Washington metropolitan area as well as across the nation and he is a free lance performer in these areas. One of his specialties is performing recitals where he does improvisations on spirituals and hymns.

Some of his past accomplishments are being a National Teaching Fellow, an Outstanding Young Man of America, an Area Teacher of the Year Candidate in Montgomery County Maryland, Accompanist and later Director of the Montgomery County Youth Chorus (the countywide honors chorus for high school students) a chief musician with the American Baptists USA conferences and chairman of the music department at Allen University in Columbia SC. He has composed a major opera on the life of Dr. Martin Luther King which he is presently working on for it’s premiere performance.

Everett has held positions as organist/choir director/minister of music at churches in California, Ohio, Michigan, South Carolina and Washington DC and is a member of the National Association of Negro Musicians, the American Choral Directors Association, The Music Educators National Association and the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music & Worship Arts.
