President's Message

Welcome to the official website for FAME—The Foundation for the Advancement of Music & Education, Inc.

We are thrilled as we mark our 7th Year Anniversary as a non-profit this coming Summer 2011. These 7 years have been filled

with many achievements that have fostered our mission of providing access to all genres of art to students in urban neighborhoods, who are often disproportionately affected by their social and economic backgrounds. FAME has been honored to partner with numerous city, state and district non-profit organizations, government entities, and for-profit businesses in projects such as Music Is Central, Mirandy and Brother Wind, Spelling Bees sponsored by The Gazette and The Washington Informer, Summer Music Technology Camp, etc.. Exposing children and subsequently their families to art enriches the landscape of our community.

Each year, FAME has also been dedicated to providing monetary scholarships to students to further their education in the arts whether it is for vocal or visual arts, dance, or theatre. Our annual fundraising concert, Bridging the Musical Spectrum, enables FAME to continue to do this necessary work. We extend much gratitude to all of our sponsors over the years who continue to make this event possible. Please join us on October 8, 2011 at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, University of Maryland College Park, for our annual event, which will feature local and national artists for a diverse, intergenerational and cultural experience.FAME also gives praise to our staff, volunteers and board members who are also committed to bringing equity to the arts.
