New Board Members Welcomed By The Foundation For The Advancement Of Music And Education, Inc. (FAME)

(Maryland) - At its March 26, 2011 annual meeting, the Board of Directors of The Foundation for the Advancement of Music and Education, Inc. (FAME) approved the election of eight new members to its governing body. The new members, with a wide range of backgrounds in education, business, law and philanthropy, will use their expertise to advance the mission of FAME. The new members are:

  • Gwendolyn K. Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer, United Communities Against Poverty
  • Sylvia Fogelman, President, Small Wonders Inc.
  • Tyrone S. Gillum, President and Senior Partner, Sage Marketing Partners
  • Sam E. Hutchinson, Esquire, ES International
  • Michael Ellis Ingram, Orchestra Conductor
  • Leonard Long Jr., Esquire, Attorney At Law
  • John H. Ray, Deputy Director, Interagency Policy and Management Division, U S. General Services Administration
  • Aaron Waller, Vice President for Administration, The Washington Redskins

About The Foundation for the Advancement of Music and Education, Inc. (FAME) FAME is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organized in 2004 to advance the value of music, music making and educational study and to create opportunities for youth to experience the joys of music and provide them gifts that last a lifetime. FAME provides quality and diverse music-making opportunities and is a strong advocate for music and education integrity. It targets young people living in areas of social and economic need that might otherwise lack opportunity, and predominantly supports activities held outside school hours. We partner with other nonprofits, educational institutions and other entities for specific projects of particular significance/ relevance to FAME’s mission.

 

FAME provides support through the provision of grants, scholarships, tutoring and workshops for students, teachers, scholars and specialists in the areas of music, performing and visual arts and education in general. This support allows students to prepare for, and attend, colleges and universities to advance their education in the 21st Century.
